And do you know what to do to reverse the process?
As any physicist knows:
“Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Only converted from one for to another.”
And you have 4 types of human energy…
Physical energy is energy related to your physical self. This is your health and fitness levels – influenced by your exercise and nutrition.
Mental energy is related to the quality of your thoughts. So poor mental energy means you are having too many unnecessary negative thoughts. And healthy mental energy generally means you think of life as a series of largely positive experiences and situations. Thoughts are units of electrical energy
Emotional energy is related to how you feel. And a feeling is a chemical change in the body so is a form of chemical energy.
And Spiritual energy is a little harder to define. It is related to you having a sense of there being something bigger– whether that be a religious belief, a connection with nature or a sense of some bigger purpose. It gives perspective.
So back to the spirals and physics….
All of your 4 energies are connected. So the state of one of the 4 will inevitably have an impact on the others.
You have a bad night’s sleep and feel tired when you get up. You get up late and miss your morning run and the healthy breakfast you had planned. So your physical energy takes an early morning hit.
Your drive to work is slow and all the other drivers on the road are total idiots! Your head fills with negative thoughts about wasting time and how you will be late for an important meeting.
These thoughts continue when you get to work and a series of negative people and events keeps you locked in this negative place.
You start to feel bad.
And this of course…
Means you lose all sense of purpose and perspective. That connection with love and nature you had at the weekend is a distant memory. Replaced by a feeling that each small setback seems like the world’s largest challenge.
And there you have it!
Things are spiraling out of control.
A classic energy spiral in action.
But there’s good news…
You are not your body, thoughts or emotions.
You can step back and reverse the negative spiral.
Take back control.
Manage your spirals.
You get home from work tired and unhappy.
But you remind yourself of how you normally feel after a run in your local park.
You use your will power to get your running gear on and step out of the door.
As the endorphins triggered by the run start to kick in, you start to feel better.
Your thoughts start to change.
The big problem at work can be solved.
And let’s face it…it’s not that important.
You notice the beauty of the trees.
The smell of the fresh air.
Your connection with nature is back.
You start to feel more positive emotions.
Think more constructive thoughts.
And you have succeeded…
You took charge of your energy spirals and turned them around.
Negative became positive.
Life is not so bad after all.
I’m off to actively manage my energy spirals and not allow the negative ones to spiral out of control.
