Beliefs as filters
What you will get: A reminder of the importance of beliefs.
“There is no such thing as true reality”
Only the reality that you CHOOSE to create.
And what leads to the creation of your reality?
Your beliefs, both good and bad, create your entire perception of how you see and experience the world.
Each second, your brain is bombarded with massive amounts of information.
And your conscious mind simply does not have the capacity to process all this information.
So the information passes through your subconscious “filter”
And that filter is your beliefs.
And as then information passes through the filter, the filter…
So if you believe that the world is a bad place, your belief filter will make sure you notice bad things happening in the world and miss the good things happening around you.
And guess what…
When you start noticing all the bad things, your belief that the world is a bad place is confirmed.
People with a certain political bias buy newspapers that have the same political views. Then the political belief they have must be right, right?
Because it is just a belief. And beliefs are not facts. They are distorted information.
So be very careful what you choose to believe.
As Anthony Robbins puts it,
“A belief is a feeling of certainty about what something means. Beliefs create the maps that guide us toward our goals and give us the power to take action. But in the same way, that they can drive us forward to the lives, we want to live, they can also create obstacles in our path and cause us to miss out on the things we want most.”
I’m off to review my beliefs and make sure they are creating the kind of world around me that I want to be part of.
How about you?
