Control

What’s it about?:Control

What if…

You were not in control?

You see…

To try to manage our lives and reduce stress, we humans try to control things.

Getting the perfect home so we will be satisfied.
Avoiding things that we are not sure that we like.
Planning our holiday in detail so it will be perfect.

Problem is…

Life is unpredictable.

And there are so many things (if not most) that you can’t control.

The traffic on the way to work.
The delay to your flight.
The different views of your work colleagues.

And unless we let go of control in these situations, it generates stress.

And perhaps the hardest thing to control of all?

Your thoughts.

Don’ believe me?

I absolutely do NOT want you to think about a pink elephant right now.

So who or what created the image of the pink elephant that just popped into your mind?

And you couldn’t control it, right?

So maybe you could fine more peace in trying to control less.

Letting go.
Being more spontaneous.
Accepting that life is unpredictable.

Worrying less about the things that have happened that you cannot change.
Worrying less about the things that haven’t yet happened that you can’t predict.

And what do you gain from letting go of the need to try and control?

Peace of mind.

Calmness.
A chance to think less and be in the moment more.

I’m off to try and let go of control and be more present in the now.

How about you?

To your fulfilment.
