Inside Out Living

What’s it about?:Inside-out living

What if…

Everything you thought was right about your world was wrong?

What if…

You suddenly discovered that you had been living your life the wrong way round since you were taught to as a child?

You see…

Most people believe that happiness comes from outside-in living.

So by changing or doing or getting things related to the outside world, they will change the way they feel inside.

So, this leads to a life of striving to manipulate the environment.
To work harder to achieve more
To get more things.

For example…

“If I just get that bigger house I’ll be happier.”
“If I get the promotion I’ll feel better.”
“If I get the big car I’ll be satisfied.”

Problem is…

None of this is true.

True meaning and fulfilment in life comes from inside-out living.

By changing the way you think, feel inside, your world seems like a different place. Even if nothing at all changes on the outside.

Here’s an example related to my dog Odi (see picture above)

So he’s a fun dog. He gets exited a lot. And he barks a lot.

A few days ago I was feeling irritated and had had quite a stressful morning.

And Odi started barking.

My thoughts?

“This stupid dog is so annoying. Why can’t he be like other dogs and be calmer.”

The result?

I felt even more irritated.

And then, yesterday, I’d had a good morning. I felt pretty calm and relaxed.

And Odi started barking.

My thoughts?

“This dog is so much fun and he makes me laugh at all the weird things he barks at. Is he barking at a strange rock now?”

The result?

I felt a sense of love and warmth towards my dog.

So you see…

In both of these examples, the dogs behaviour (the outside behaviour) was identical.
But my experience of it was very different based on my own emotional states and thoughts.

So the real experience was an inside-out one.
Not an outside-in one that most people believe is governing their life.

So remember, it’s not the outside world that’s determining the quality of your life.

It’s your internal world (your beliefs, feelings and thoughts) that is creating your true experience and perception of the outside world.

I’m off to live an inside-out life.

How about you?

To your fulfilment.
