Your leader is limbic

What you will get: A reminder on the vital role your limbic system plays in your life.

Your Leader is Limbic!

It never ceases to amaze me how so many organisations and people get leadership development wrong!

Here’s why…

So you want to be a better leader of yourself and of others?

So you want to see stronger leaders in your organization who others really want to follow?

So you want a personal and professional development approach that really delivers on effective long term habit change?

Great.

Then please remember this one thing…

Change and leadership development is not a simple, logical process!

It is not like teaching someone who can’t use Powerpoint how to use it.

Leadership is about people stuff, right?

It’s about…

  • Learning to understand and manager yourself better.
  • Becoming a master of your emotions.
  • Developing emotional resilience and learning to bounce back in hard times.
  • Creating purposeful goals and achieving them.
  • Knowing your personal values and how to use them.
  • Developing trust and openness in your relationships.
  • Respecting others and becoming a great coach of others.
  • Developing empathy and rapport with others.
  • Inspiring others to follow you through passion, authenticity and clarity of purpose.
  • Seeing each day as an opportunity to learn from your successes and failures.
  • Developing a healthy self-belief so you make your dreams a reality.

And the list goes on.

And all of these things are not simple and logical.

For example, just telling someone how to behave with empathy and gain the trust of others is not the same as them doing it.

Why?

Because understanding how to change is not the same as changing!

Your rational brain is responsible for understanding, rationalising and intellect.

But is does not and cannot create leadership change.

Your Limbic System (subconscious brain) is the real boss of change.

It is responsible for all your motivation to change and driving new habits and behaviours.

It is the reason for your resistance to change.

It generates irrational fears to block you even if you understand that you need to make change.

It is the creator of all new ideas.

It is the home of your intuition and all your emotional triggers.

In sum…

Your leader is your Limbic System.

So you can choose to ignore this and keep on pretending that leadership development of yourself and others is a logical process.

Or you can take the smart choice that thousands of my clients have already taken – you can learn to be a master of understanding and managing your Limbic System.

And when you do that…

You can create lasting change to help yourself become an outstanding leader of yourself and others.

I’m off to be realistic about change and work some more with my Limbic System.

How about you?

To your success
